More than 100 residents of Surulere North LCDA received empowerment items from Sarafadeen Olatunji Mohammed, the caretaker chairman of the area.
Among the items distributed were refrigerators, freezers, vulcanizing machines, clippers, pump sprayers, generators and cash for small scale business start up.
Hon Sarafadeen Olatunji Mohammed also commissioned various projects in different communities such as re installation of Iwofin electricity transformer, motorized borehole at Ajegunle and Orile Igbon, Extension of Electricity of Temidire – Babaode Communities, Installation of solar lights at Orile Igbon trailer park.
A cheque of five hundred thousands naira was also presented to Aroje community for the completion of their electrification project.
In his speech, the chairman appreciate the Executive governor of the state, Seyi Makinde for making life easy for the people of the state and for giving him opportunity to serve the people of the Area.
He said that the empowerment was aimed at improving the socio-economic situation of the beneficiaries.
The chairman explained that the items were given based on the identified socio-economic gaps within the constituency, saying the effort was to ensure wealth creation.
He said that the constituents deserved such benefits, having enjoyed their unflinching support throughout his political sojourn.
“The beneficiaries of the empowerment programme today were carefully selected from all the wards. We would ensure we reach out to as many as we can,” he said.
He called on all beneficiaries to follow the spirit of becoming fishermen, promising to continue with his commitment to the constituents.
Some of the beneficiaries, in their various remarks, thanked the chairman for the gesture and promised their continuous support.
