The caretaker chairman of Surulere Local Government Area, Iresaadu. Hon Isaiah Adegbite yesterday empowered 400 constituents and distributed free School uniform, Shoes and Socks for about three hundred pupils selected from 10 wards within the local government.
Hon. Taofeek Oyenibi, the supervisor for education in the council had led the free uniform team on an assessment tour to 30 schools across the ten wards within the local government.
The council boss, who spoke after the programme, said it is part of his administration Social Intervention Program to alleviate the pains and suffering of the area.
“The road to success is always under construction. Even with all that we’ve accomplished, surely there is much room for a lot more. It won’t happen in a day, or month. But surely and most definitely, we will get there. We will build the Surulere we’ve always wished to live in, we will give our children the best of education, our youths the best of job opportunities, our mothers the chance to earn a living for themselves and our community, a label of progress-oriented.
“I give thanks to Almighty God for making this programme possible. I also thank my leader, Governor Seyi Makinde who found me worthy of this appointment as the caretaker chairman of the council.
“I can’t achieve this without the team work of our team members- the caretaker committee members, and the staff of our great local government,” he added.
Motorcycle ,Generator, Pump Spraying Machine, Cooler, Cooking Gas cylinder, amongst others were distributed.
Traditional rulers, caretaker committee members, religious leaders, party stalwarts and PDP leaders were all present at the empowerment programme.
