Sultan confirms Ramadan begins Tuesday

Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has confirmed the sighting of the moon signalling the beginning of Ramadan.

In an live broadcast on Monday, Sultan Abubakar announced that the Ramadan fast will begin on Tuesday.

He urged Muslims to ensure strict adherence to the COVID protocol during the fasting period.

President Muhammadu Buhari welcomed the beginning of Muslims’ holy month, which marks the commencement of 30 days of fasting.

In a statement, the President prayed Allah to increase the unity, solidarity, peace and prosperity of the nation.

He urged Muslims to be tolerant and reject ‘voices’ that seek to divide the nation.

He also urged all citizens to show compassion to the millions of the less endowed and remember those that have been displaced by conflict in their charity and prayers.
