Edo 2020 : Gov. Makinde Rewards Oyo Medalists

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has announced reward to the state medalists at the just concluded national sports festival Edo 2020 with N500,000 to each gold medalists. Other athletes who would receive donation were Silver medalists with the sum of N350,000 each ,bronze medalists, N250,000 each while each coach of every sport would get N500,000 each. Oyo Govt. Reiterates Commitment to Sports

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde says his administration is developing sports to productively engage youths in the state. The governor stated this at the presentation of awards and certificates to the winners of the Oyo State 2021 Junior Golf Competition, to conclude a weeklong Golf Clinic organised for kids and teenagers by the Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports. A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicates that the governor, while speaking at the Ibadan Golf Club, Ibadan, venue of the event, noted that the state has been creating platforms for youths to channel their energies to sports. Crown FC beat J’Atete FC 3-1

Crown Football Club of Ogbomoso on Wednesday defeated visiting J'Atete Football Club (3SC) of Warri 3-1 in the ongoing NNL League in Ogbomoso. The match was in the week 5 of the 2020/2021 NNL, played at the Maracana Stadium, Lautech, Ogbomoso. Crown striker, Tobi Adeyi, scored the opening goal in the 3rd minute and Ifeanyi Ogba doubled the lead in the 33rd minute. The Ajilete warrior continued domination, which paid off again in the 50th minute, when Tobi Adeyi extended the lead. Samson Edejie of J'Atete FC scored a consolation goal for the visitors in the 46th minute. Crown will next visit Apex Krane Fc, Agbor on Saturday 13th of March, 2021. Crown FC now have 10 points from 5 matches played so far in the league.

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has visited Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, formerly Liberty Stadium Ibadan, in continuation of his tour of sporting facilities and visit to team Nigeria athletes, preparing for the Olympic Games.  On a visit to the Sports hostel, the Minister promised that all illegal structures in the building would be taken off.  He used the occasion to appeal to private investors around the country to take advantage of the situation and turn most of the hostels to hotels so as to generate revenue for government. Gov. Makinde Presents 10million Naira Cheque to ‘Scorpion’

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has presented a ten million naira cheque to International Featherweight Champion, Ridwan Oyekola, ‘Scorpion’. Scorpion had last December defeated his Argentine counterpart, Lucas Montesino to emerge winner of the Featherweight belt. Presenting the cheque on behalf of the Governor, the State’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr Seun Fakorede called on youths to emulate Oyekola by directing their energy to worthwhile ventures. UEFA Europa League last-16 draw revealed: Manchester United vs AC Milan, Arsenal vs Olympiacos (See full draw)

The Europa League last-16 draw for 2020/21 has been revealed. Premiership club, Manchester United will face Italian giants, AC Milan in the tie of the Europa League last-16, while Arsenal will take on Olympiacos.  The Europa League last 16 will take place between March 11 and March 18, with the draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals the following day after the second leg.  The quarter-finals will then be played between April 8 and April 15, while the semi-finals will be played on both April 29 and May 6.  The final, which will be in Gdansk, Poland this year, will take place on May 26.   See full draw below.
