Isolation Centres: We Are Providing Needed Funds, Support – Makinde

Oyo State Ministry of Health, on Thursday, declared that allegations that paucity of funds had hit the state’s isolation centres as reported in the news were false. The ministry, which made the clarification in a statement released on Thursday, said the allegations were untrue and baseless, adding that the state government has been providing adequate funds and personnel since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the state. Southern governors back collection of VAT by states

Governors from the Southern region of the country who met today September 16 in Enugu, have expressed support for the collection of value-added tax (VAT) by state governments. This was conveyed in a communique read out by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state at the end of the meeting. The Governors who reaffirmed its earlier commitments to fiscal federalism and emphasised the need to pursue its inclusion in the Nigerian Constitution through the ongoing constitutional amendment, stressed that collection of VAT falls within the powers of the state. Mrs. Victoria Amudoaghan, mother of Florence Ajimobi, the immediate past first lady of Oyo State is dead. OT learnt about the death of the deceased on Tuesday. Mrs. Ajimobi is the wife of the immediate past Governor of the State, late Abiola Ajimobi. Ajimobi, who ruled the state for eight years, died last year. Although details of the death of the deceased are still sketchy, our correspondent learnt that the deceased was a member of the Catholic church. The Oluyole warriors secured one of the four tickets of the elite league after defeating Ekiti United by six goals to nothing at the ongoing NNL Super Eight tournament ongoing in Enugu state.
