Three APC Governors meet Ladoja in Ibadan

Three All Progressives Congress(APC) Governors on Sunday visited the Ibadan home of former Oyo Governor Rashidi Ladoja. Governors Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa); Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi) and Mai Buni (Yobe) were said to have been led into the Ondo street, Ibadan residence of Ladoja by Senator AbdulFatai Buhari (Oyo North), Oloye Sharafadeen Alli, Hon. Bimbo Adepoju and others. Though details of the discussion were still sketchy as at press time, unconfirmed sources informed the meeting was aimed at bringing the highly respected politician to the ruling APC. It was gathered as soon as the visitors arrived the residence, a closed-door meeting started. The meeting, which was said to have started around 1:35pm, lasted till around 2:30pm.

Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III has described the passing of former Super Permanent Secretary and elderstatesman, Alhaji Ahmed Joda as a huge loss to the nation. Acknowledging his age-long friendship with the deceased, the nonagenerian monarch described the late Joda as a dependable and selfless friend, adding that the late statesmen was a man of honour and integrity. The first-class traditional ruler, while stressing that the late statesman made invaluable contributions to nation building in various capacities, urged leaders to emulate the patriotic attributes of the deceased. Osun and Oyo State governments on Thursday met in Ibadan to resolve boundary dispute between them. The Deputy Governors of both states, Alhaji Rauf Olaniyan (Oyo) and Mr Benedict Alabi (Osun) led delegation of their respective states to the meeting. Makinde approves release of promotion letters to qualified workers

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved the release of promotion letters to qualified civil and public servants. The Chairman, Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kamoru Aderibigbe, said this in a statement in Ibadan. The statement on Monday said beneficiaries were those in promotion arrears between 2017 and 2020. According to Aderibigbe, the promotions take effect nominally from January of each year for each of those eligible officers, while the financial effective date of promotion shall start from August 1, 2021. Hon. Segun Ebenezer Ogunwuyi, the chief of staff to Oyo state Governor has commenced a door-step engagement to make the ongoing national permanent voter’s card registration easier for people in Ogbomoso zone. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had in mid-June launched an online portal for Nigerians to register as voters. The portal was created for intending registrants to commence the process online by providing relevant details before booking an appointment to visit the commission’s office. Oyo declares Tuesday public holiday for Hijrah

The Oyo State Government has announced Tuesday, August 10, 2021, as a public holiday to celebrate the new Islamic year, Hijrah 1443 AH. This was contained in a circular signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, in Ibadan, the state capital, at the weekend. According to the circular, Governor Seyi Makinde "enjoined all and sundry to use the occasion to pray for the peace, unity, and sustainability of the state in particular and the country in general."
