LAUTECH Wins Grant To Study Relationship Between Malaria, COVID-19

The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has received a German grant to investigate the impact and implications of COVID-19 and malaria co‐infection. A letter conveying the development announced that the funding of the Humboldt Research Hub is made possible by the support from the Bayer Science and Education Foundation, Germany. The grant entails the establishment of a molecular laboratory in LAUTECH to build human capacity prepared to handle disease outbreaks. Governor Makinde dissolves his cabinet

Governor ‘Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Tuesday, announced the dissolution of the state’s Executive Council. Those affected include Chief of Staff (CoS) and 17 Commissioners. The cabinet was constituted on August 14, 2019, following Makinde’s historic victory in the March 9, 2019, election. The remaining Council members who were not affected include the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Head of Service (HOS) and the Director General of Due Process office. Mrs Olayemi Odetomi, the wife of a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters during the tenure of late Governor Abiola Ajimobi tenure, Mr Peter Odetomi, has been murdered by unknown gunmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria says it has taken over assets belonging to Oyo North lawmaker, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, over a N600m debt taken by his company, Abadat Ventures Limited. AMCON said in a statement by its Spokesman, Mr. Jude Nwauzor, that Senator Buhari took the loan from Guaranty Trust Bank and refused to offset it despite repeated reminders. Oyo State government has organized a one-day sensitization workshop on security consciousness for store officers, watchmen, revenue officers and drivers in the state public and civil service to curb and insecurity within the secretariat.
