Governor Makinde To Swear In Elected Chairmen On Monday

The Oyo State Independent National Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has declared the candidates of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP as winners in the Chairmanship election conducted in the 32 local government areas. Chairman of the commission, Aare Isiaka Olagunju declared the winners during the collation of election results at the headquarters of the commission in Ibadan, the state capital. Olagunju however, rescheduled the Ido local government election for Wednesday 26th, May 2021. He explained that the rescheduling was necessary due to likely anniversary for May 29th, 2021 which was earlier announced as the election date. JUST IN: President Buhari Appoints Soun’s Son Into NYSC Board

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved appointments into the National Governing Board of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Those appointed are: Ambassador Fatima Balla Abubakar as Chairman; Prince Oyekunle Oyewunmi, President’s Nominee; Mrs. Binta Muaza, President’s Nominee, Yusut Umar Nalado, President’s Nominee; Major Gen B.O. Sawyer, Representative of the Chief of Army Staff, Commissioner of Police Ede Ayuba, Representing the Inspector General of Police; Architect Sani Aliyu, Representing the Committee of Rectors of Polytechnics; and Professor Sulyman A. Abdulkareem, Representing Committee of Vice Chancellors. Their appointment is for three years. “The National Governing Board is the highest policy-making organ of the NYSC.”

LG Poll: Oyo Restricts Movements

The Oyo State Government has announced restriction of movement of persons and goods within the territory of the state between 6am and 3pm on Saturday. In a statement authorised by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, the State Government declared that the restrictions have become necessary to enable voters in the 33 local governments participate freely in the May 22 election. The statement indicated that movement of persons and goods will be restricted between the hours of 6am and 3pm to enable officials of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) conduct the election without hindrance.
