Ladoja dumps PDP for ADC

Former governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja has perfected plans to quit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Ladoja who was the national leader of Accord party left the party for PDP from where he is moving to ADC again.
Ladoja who rejoined the party after the July 2017 Supreme Court judgement which terminated the leadership of Senator Ali Midu Sheriff, this medium gathered, has resolved to join the ADC today.
A chieftain of the PDP and former Minister told our correspondent in confidence that Ladoja’s decision to defect to ADC was not unconnected with alleged plans to impose Engineer Seyi Makinde as the Oyo State PDP governorship candidate in the 2019 general elections.
The former governor is also said to be worried about the lack of internal democracy in the management of the affairs of the party by the Oyo state chapter. “He (Ladoja) will officially defect to ADC in Ibadan today. He is not happy that a governorship aspirant is about to be imposed on the people of Oyo.
In 2015, this candidate ran but was not successful. “I believe the reason for his anger is that whoever emerges as the governorship candidate must pass through a legitimate, democratic process but there is a design to subvert this by ensuring that the person becomes the candidate at all cost.
“Another worry for him is that the party is running short of internal democracy and this would be very dangerous for the PDP in Oyo State. A party that is coming to an electoral contest from the position of weakness needs to know that only by adhering strictly to the rules of the game would it stand a chance of victory,” he said.
ADC is a merger of Ladoja faction of the peoples Democratic Party PDP, Labour Party and a aggrieved faction of the All Progressives Congress (Unity Forum).
The African Democratic Congress says it aims to register 500,000 new members in Oyo State in the next two weeks.

The National Chairman of ADC, Mr. Ralph Nwosu, disclosed on Thursday during the inauguration of the state party congress committee in Ibadan that the party is set to register over 500,000 members in Oyo state within two weeks.
The chairman stated that the party had become a leading brand in Nigeria since prominent persons in the South/West zone of Nigeria had become members.
“The essence of this gathering is to re-arrange the party, for the leaders to know what to do. We have since built leaders who mounded the role they want our members to play.
“Our party is people-owned and that is why we are different from others.
“Let me assure you that our party will register 500,000 members in the state within the next two weeks,’’ he said.
He called on the committee to bring up new leaders in the state to transform the party into a continental brand.
He said, “If Oyo State could boast of the first university in the country and the first political capital of old western region, then you should know the state is special in the country.’’
The committee, headed by Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, also has Dr. Dele Ajadi as the Secretary, among other members.
