FG Announces N1.6Bn For Oyo, 15 Other States Affected By Flood

Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has approved the immediate release of N1.6billion as intervention fund to victims of flood in 16 affected states across the country.

The decision was taken during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided by the acting President at the presidential villa, Abuja.

Briefing State House Correspondents after the meeting, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina, said the Ministry of Finance has been directed to release the fund directly to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for onward disbursement directly to victims.

He said the affected states are Edo, Sokoto, Ekiti, Osun, Akwa Ibom, Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia, Oyo, Lagos, Plateau and Bayelsa State.

The Acting President also directed the Presidential Committee on Flooding to also assist in disbursement and provision of relief materials.

Council also approved the award of contract worth N159 million for engineering design of a sewer line in Katampe, Gwarimpa, Kado, and other districts of the Federal Capital Territory.
