Akala Visit Soun

Former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao Akala, yesterday, visited the Soun of Ogbomoso, His Majesty, Oba (Dr) Oladunni Oyewumi, at his Oja-Igbo Palace.

The visit, for now, seems to have put to rest rift between the former Governor who holds the traditional title of Bobagunwa of Ogbomosoland and the highly revered monarch.

Between January 2006 and May 2011 when Alao-Akala held sway as governor, he had a running battle with the trio of the Alaafin of Oyo, the Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Soun of Ogbomosoland.

It is worth of note that Soun’s son, Prince Kunle Oyewumi, who served as Alao-Akala’s Special Adviser on MDGs, had in the past made several efforts to manage the relationship between the former governor and the Soun.

This peace parley was said to be brokered by one of the children of the monarch, who is Oyo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Prince Oyewole Oyewumi.

Otunba Alao-Akala described his visit to the palace as that of a son to his father, while the traditional ruler who pleased to receive him also described the visit as a peaceful one.
