Akala, Adeseun & Others Bag Award in Ogbomoso

The Insight, a community-based newspaper in Ogbomoso published by Stone Communications Ventures, yesterday honoured the immediate past governor of Oyo state Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala, minister of State for FCT, Oloye Jumoke Akinjide and Senator Ayoade Adeseun, senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial district with awards of excellence for their achievements and contributions to humanity.
The event which hold at Lagbami Osekun Civic Centre, Ogbomoso South Local Government secretariat, Ogbomoso, also commemorate the newspaper’s 10th anniversary.
Other award recipients, according to the publisher, Mr. Femi Ogunlana, include majority leader of the Federal House of Representatives, Honourable Mulikat Akande-Adeola; Honourable Segun Odebunmi, also a member of the House Representatives; Honourable Fatai Buhari, Ambassador Peter Oyedele, Air Commodore Layi Atanda (retd.), AIG Sheu Babalola (retd.), Chief Samuel Adetutu, Evangelist Remi Odetomi, Mr Olabisi Abiri, Mr. Samson Egunyomi Adegoke(FCA), Federal Medical Centre, Keffi; Chief Michael Ajiboye, Comrade Wale Ojo Lanre, Dr. Alabi, immediate past provost of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo; Chief Matthew Fashola, chairman Ogbomoso South Local Government; Hon. Temilola Adibi, chairman, Ogbomoso North Local Government; Comrade Sunday Olajide (VGN commander, Oyo State); Pastor Williams Oladipo, CEO, Lifebread Foods; Alhaji Noah Bello, chairman Crown Football Club Ogbomoso. The publisher also said that the organisation decided to honour those personalities because of their contributions to the growth and development of their communities and the country at large, adding that some of the non-Ogbomoso indigenes among the awardees are either role models or selected for their exemplary lifestyle which has positively affected the lives of the people around them. He also said that the loud bang became imperative as the newspaper in the past decade has manifested as a powerful agent of social engineering in the state and a unifying factor in community newspapering.
Dr. Akin Odebunmi of the English Department, University of Ibadan, was the guest lecturer under the chairmanship of Justice Yemi Ajayi while Chief (Dr.) L. A. Gbadamosi was the special guest of honour.
